UPDATE: World News: New Orleans Shooting Yields 2 Arrests

Now, the injury count has gone up to 19 and two of three suspects have been arrested. They both are believed to be involved in gangs.


http://images.worldnow.com/AP/images/2501300_G.jpgThe first suspect was Akein Scott, 19 (to the left). He was arrested in the Little Woods section of the eastern area of the state. Scott is known to police for drug and weapon charges and is facing 20 counts of attempted second-degree murder. His bail was set at $10 million after his first appearance in the Orleans Parish Magistrate Court on Thursday morning. His next hearing is scheduled for July 16.

His brother, Shawn Scott, 24, (to the right) was captured a day later and is facing the same charges. Shawn Scott was given a set bail amount of $10 million just like his brother while officials also added another $91,000 for other unrelated drug and weapon charges. Both men are a said to be part of a gang called the Frenchmen and Derbigny Boys.


Motives for the shootings have not been have not been clarified, but police said that the shootings are perceived to be gang related.
