Spirit Week!

Hey Sulli! Spirit week is here! As you may (or may not) know, today is Colour Day! But wait! Didn't remember your colour? Don't worry! You still have the rest of the week to make up for it! This post about the week will tell you what's in each day and some strategies that could help you for the next days to come!

Tuesday: Twin Day
What it's about: On this day, students get to dress up with friends to try to look like twins! Pretty straight forward, but it can be a hard thing to do! For some people it takes a lot of planning (like what if you don't have anything that matches with your "twin"?) and it can be hard to find an outfit that you both like.
Strategy: Why not go out on a quick trip to the mall with your twin to buy a matching shirt together? It can be really fun and if you can't go to the mall, why not go to eachother's houses and see what you two have in common? Or, if you don't have time for that, plan a colour scheme! A lot of "twins" from the past have dressed up in opposite colours and pulled it off greatly! For example, Twin A could wear blue shirt, red pants while Twin B wears red shirt, blue pants.

Wednesday: Occupation Day
What it's about: Students get to dress up as the job that they want after they leave highschool. Now, before you start freaking out saying "BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT TO BE YET!!" calm down! This is all just for fun, so just think of a job and dress for it! If you don't know what to be, just be anything! (Even if it's a bit silly!)
Strategy: As said earlier, if you don't know what to be, just be anything! Maybe ask your mom or dad if they have a spare uniform that you can borrow for the day, or a really official looking suit! For the girls who love to dress up out there, why not wear one of your eyecatching dresses and say you're a business official or an entrepreneur. If you don't have/don't want to wear outfits like that, why not make a quick costume and say you want to be a superhero or a ninja? This is all for fun, so why not have fun with it?

Thursday: Beach Day
What it's about: The weather has been great lately, so why not dress for the sun? Sulli students are encouraged to dress in a summer-like fashion for this beach-themed day. (Just make sure not to break any rules! We don't want you to get in trouble after all!)
Strategy: Okay, 1. Don't actually wear your swimsuit. If you wanted you could wear it on top of a shirt, but don't just walk around school in just your bikini and trunks. If you have a hard time of thinking of stuff to wear, just wear regular shorts and a summery t-shirt! If anything, just think of the great weather we've been having and think of what you would love to wear during the summer!

Well, that's the week! A reminder that the Friday for this week is a Pro-D Day (YAY!!) and that comments are encouraged! Student Council plans these events, and I'm sure they would love the feedback and ideas that you guys have! Just comment on my blog and I'd be happy to share what you said to Student Council!

Anyways, have a stellar week guys!

FanExpo 2013!!

Last weekend in Vancouver Convention Centre, Vancouverites young and old were able to go to the great FanExpo; a convention that is themed around anime, manga, comics and cartoons! Many had the pleasure of going there to check out all the stuff for sale and the people wearing costumes! In FanExpo, there were many guests, such as Ken Kirzinger (Jason from Freddy vs. Jason), David Prowse (Darth Vader from Star Wars), Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings), Veronica Taylor (Ash from Pokemon's Voice Actress), various hosts from video game show Reviews on the Run and EP Daily and, of course, the greatest man who ever lived in comic history, Stan Lee! The lines for meeting each of these people was very long, but nonetheless, it was FANTASTIC. To give you an idea of what was here, look at the pics below!

We weren't allowed to take pictures of merchandise, but the stalls had awesome displays! Here's a picture of just one of them with Tardis from Dr. Who! (You were allowed to get pictures inside it too!)

I don't know about you guys, but I totally wouldn't want to be on ANY of their bad sides. Thankfully, the characters of Batman were happy to pose for a picture. (Once the cameras were gone, they all started to fight epically.) (I'm joking.)

Aw! Look at this cute, little guy! In the Expo, R2-D2 was being piloted by an RC
controller, blinking and boop-ing at command. Well, I know what I want
for Christmas!

Actually, Slenderman's not that bad of a guy. He has great fashion sense, likes listening to people,
and writes poetry. Just make sure you don'T tElL aNyoNe-- Oh nO, wHat dId I dO?! rUn! RuN FoR YoUr LiVes!! AaAaAaAAAAHhhh!!
... Hahaha, just kidding! I'm alright!

This is a picture of David Prowse, the original actor of Darth Vader from Star Wars. My brother and I were
able to get his autograph, and talk to him a bit, and he was such a nice guy about it! If there wasn't a really long
line up for his autograph, we would have loved to talk to him more!

GUYS! GUYS! I know these people look awesome, but wait! I FOUND WALDO!

Even Rise of the Guardians fans don't get dissappointed here!
Meet the world-reknowned, handsome Jack Frost!

Multicultural Food Day

On Friday, Sulli students were able to enjoy a little variety of food for Multicultural Food Day. I, myself, was helping sell food and was happy to see people happily buy food and then come back only minutes later to buy more. It was a fun time and fast paced, but to those who didn't really try the food, how good was it really?
In the newspaper's debut, I'll talk about the food that was here that fine Friday! I'll describe how much it cost, how popular it was (not popular, semi-popular, popular, very popular) and tell you whether or not you should buy some when next year rolls around!

Cream Puffs

Origin: France
Cost: 4 puffs for $1
Popularity: Popular

You see... I wanted to take a picture of the ones that I bought, but I ate them. Don't look at me like that! What can I say? They're cream puffs! CREAM PUFFS. In other words, the tiny pastry of temptation and fantastic-ness! When you bought them from the table, they were nice and cold. The cream inside them, vanilla flavoured, was a bit frozen though. Personally I like that, but a few people don't like biting into cold ice-cream. But in spite of that, boy were they were selling! But honestly, $1 for four of these delightful goodies? Sounds pretty good to me! In fact, in the 30-45 minutes that I was there, we went through 2 boxes of cream puffs! (That's 220 cream puffs!) My verdict, buy them! Buy them while you can! (And if you could, give me some please!)

Polvoron

Origin: The Philippines
Cost: 2 candies for $0.25
Popularity: Semi-popular

Being Filipino, I totally flipped out when I saw this. This candy is really popular for the people who know them and love them, but unfortunately the little milk-powder treat didn't get that much love here at Sulli. I think the problem is that people don't know the snack as much as people who've grown up with it. Its really good though! The yellow one is original flavour and the red is cookies and cream. I grew up with this stuff, so I find it delicious and amazing. But everyone else didn't see it in the same light. I was surprised though, if you can buy 2 for only a quarter, what have you got to lose? Still, we were able to finish one out of the two boxes, which is still good! My verdict is a buy! Buy it and try it! It's really good, honest!

Samosa

Origin: South Asian/South-East Asian countries (no specified country)
Cost: 1 for $1
          2 for $1.50
Popularity: Very popular

Holy snap, these things were selling like crazy! One bite, and your hooked! I was constantly seeing people buy four of these badboys and come back 5 minutes later for another batch! It was a bit spicy, but it was just right for those who wanted to try this popular item! And the tables were serving hot sauce to those wanting a bit more heat! When I was helping Student Council sell this; I swear I'm not joking, I saw Mr. Vaughn carry a whole box back to the PE office! They're THAT good! My verdict is this...
I hope this encourages all of you to participate in next year's Multicultural Week! Have a great day!
